○ This study aimed to identify the current status and key issues regarding the sexual and reproductive health of Korean women across their life stages through the 2025 Korean Women’s Health Research for Sexual and Reproductive Health(2nd). ○ The survey protocol for the 2025 Women's Life-Course Sexual and Reproductive Health Survey was developed through reviewing the first survey results, conducting a scoping review, examining prior research, and holding expert advisory meetings, followed by the implementation of the questionnaire survey. An online survey was conducted with 1,015 adolescents aged 13-18 and 4,136 adults aged 19-64, while 1,023 elderly individuals were surveyed face-to-face. This established survey data for 6,174 participants, representing a 10.9% increase compared to the 5,567 participants in the 2022 first survey. ○ Key research findings are as follows: - 35.5% of adolescents and 39.7% of adults experienced severe menstrual pain (VAS score of 7 or higher). 37.6% of adolescents reported missing school or social activities due to menstrual pain in the past year. - The consistent contraceptive use rate among adult women was 53.7%, with multiple methods used, such as condoms and other modern contraceptives combined with the menstrual cycle method or withdrawal. - 62.9% of adolescents felt burdened by the cost of purchasing menstrual products, while 27.8% of adult women felt burdened by contraceptive costs, indicating that the financial burden related to sexual and reproductive health is problematic. - 61.8% of perimenopausal women and 56.4% of postmenopausal women experienced at least one severe menopausal symptom in the past year, including physical and mental fatigue, joint and muscle discomfort, sleep problems, irritability, hot flashes, and sweating. Hormone therapy usage rates were 15.0% and 21.0%, respectively. - 14.3% of adolescents, 42.8% of adults, and 14.4% of the elderly utilized gynecological services within the past year. However, some women required but did not receive treatment for genital diseases or gynecological issues during this period (adolescents: 10.4%, adults: 14.4%, elderly: 1.2%). - Sources of sexual and reproductive health information were diverse. Adolescents accessed information on menstruation, menstrual products, sexual violence, and gender roles through both face-to-face and non-face-to-face channels. ○ The 2025 Second Survey showed overall similarities with the 2022 First Survey results, suggesting the need for continuous research on women's sexual and reproductive health across the life course and the development of effective policies.
